Ruger LCP .380

10 Jan

Manufacturer : Ruger
Price : $339.98
Capacity : 6
Caliber : .380 Auto

The Ruger LCP is one of the easiest guns to conceal. It’s a great back up gun. It comes with a small carrying case and only one magazine. Doesn’t matter what you wear you can’t tell that you are carrying. The HYDE-IT Holster looks just like a wallet and costs about $50. It works with shorts or jeans.

Taurus Judge Revolver

02 Dec

Manufacturer : Glock
Price : $579.00
Capacity : 5
Caliber : .410 or 45 Colt

Taurus did a great job marketing this gun. You might have seen this gun used by Mark Wahlberg in the movie Max Payne or you may have seen the commercial with the watermelon heads exploding. I saw both and immediately ran out to purchase one. Unfortunately for me everyone else did the same thing. So I ended up on a 6 month waiting list. It wasn’t even the color I wanted, but I took what I could get. Now you can find them everywhere for a lower price than I paid. Its definitely one to own if your a collector. Out of all the guns I own I get asked the most about the judge. The judge accepts either .410 shotgun shells or 45 colt. I have yet to fire 45 Colt out of this, and I probably never will. I find that I rarely shoot it, it’s to bulky for me to carry, and I am not sure this would be the first gun I grab if someone broke in. It is a gun that I bring it to the range is when I have a bunch of friends with me. Its a fun gun to shoot, and its a gun your friends will talk about the next day after shooting.

CCW Glock 26 9mm

27 Nov

Manufacturer : Glock
Price : $599.00
Magazines : 2
Capacity : 10 rd
Caliber : 9mm
Weight Empty : 19.75 oz.

This is the second CCW gun I bought. I did more research on this gun than my first. It is very accurate. It accepts the Glock 19 and 17 magazines. Which works out great since I already have a 17 with several magazines. So now at the range I will bring my Glock 17 mags as well as my 26 mags. Gives me more shooting time. I would rather load the magazines at home then waste time at the range loading. It is a fairly smooth gun. So carrying it in my universal holster works our really well. Even when I wear shorts you cannot tell I am carrying this gun. The one thing I did not like initially was my pinky finger would hang off the grip. So I bought a mag extender. I now wish I didn’t waste the money. The mag extender feels great until you start shooting the gun. It pinches your finger on each shot. After a day at the range I was fine with letting my pinky finger sit under the grip. Just like every other Glock the Glock 26 is really easy to disassemble and reassemble. It doesn’t feel as good in my hand as my Springfield 1911, but it was half the price. I have literally put over a 1000 rounds through this gun with no problems. Check out the hickok45 video on the Glock 26.

Magnum Research Inc Desert Eagle .50 A.E.

27 Nov

Desert Eagle
Manufacturer : Magnum Research Inc
Price : $1499.00
Magazines : 1
Capacity : 7 + 1
Caliber : .50 A.E.

This is a 50 caliber Desert Eagle. This is by far my heaviest handgun. I was a little nervous pulling the trigger on this gun, but the weight of the gun takes a lot of the recoil. It’s not as bad as you would think. The only recoil you have to worry about is your wallet recoiling when you go to buy ammo. I am using Gold Dot .50 A.E. which costs about $50.00 for a box of twenty. You can find it for $33 online, but I didn’t want to wait so I bought it at my local shop. I usually shoot about 200 rounds per gun when I am at the range. So the cost adds up quick. Needless to say I don’t shoot this one that much. This was just a gun I wanted to own for as long as I can remember. Next time we are at the range I will take a video of it and post it here. I took a picture of the .50 next to a 9mm round and a 45 round.

CCW Springfield EMP 1911 9mm

26 Nov

Springfield EMP (Enhanced Micro Pistol) 1911
Manufacturer : Springfield Armory
Price : $1199.00
Magazines : 3
Capacity : 9 + 1
Caliber : 9mm

I purchased this gun as my ccw (concealed carry weapon). It feels great when you hold it just like all 1911′s. It comes with 3 9 round magazines, a holster, and a mag pouch. It comes with front and rear Trijicon night sights. I didn’t really care for the holster. I bought a Galco leather iwb (inside waist band) holster. The only problem is that I don’t wear loose clothing during the summer so it is really noticeable that I am carrying. So I picked up a universal holster that will hold almost any handgun at a local gun show. It fit great in there, but after wearing it for a while parts of the gun would start to bother my leg. You couldn’t tell I was carrying it, but it was not comfortable at all. I didn’t do a lot of research when purchasing my first CCW gun. I definitely did more research for my second ccw gun. I don’t regret buying the gun. Its a really nice gun. It shoots well. I did have a couple of jams while I was breaking it in. I now only carry this gun in the winter when I wear larger sweatshirts.

My experience with a bulk ammo purchase from georgia-arms.com

23 May

I recently purchsed 500 rounds of .223 from a site a friend of mine recommended. On there site they say there is a 5 – 7 week delay. As most of you know getting ammo is getting harder and harder now days. My local store will only let me by 5 boxes of .223 a day. Which isn’t much if you go to the range on a regular basis. So I figured I would go ahead and get it from them anyway.  I paid $210 plus $15 shipping. To my suprise it took just a little over two weeks to get my order. It came right to my door. I went ahead and counted it and I ended up with 503 rounds. A few rounds had some dents. Nothing major, but I figured I should mention it.
